Teen Entrepreneur’s 3D-Printed Can Holder Goes Viral, Generates $300,000 in Monthly Sales

A simple 3D-printed can holder has turned into a serious business for teenage entrepreneur Michael Satterlee. His company, Cruise Cup, exploded online after one short Instagram video attracted more than 50 million views and nearly 2.5 million likes.

The attention quickly turned into real money. Cruise Cup reached about $300,000 in monthly sales, according to figures from November 2025 that Business Insider verified through Satterlee’s Shopify dashboard. The numbers show how quickly a simple product can grow when the right video reaches the right audience.

Satterlee comes from Clifton Park, New York, and his product started with a playful idea. Cruise Cup sells a can cooler with a clever reloading feature that makes grabbing another drink part of the experience.

In the viral Instagram video, Satterlee pretended to chug a Dr. Pepper before quickly loading another can into the holder. The clip was inexpensive and straightforward, but the unusual design immediately caught people’s attention.

Satterlee believes novelty helped the video spread so quickly. People scrolling through Instagram had not seen a can holder work quite like his before, which gave them a reason to stop, watch, share, and comment.

One Viral Instagram Video Changed Everything

AOL / The scale of that growth created a new problem almost immediately. Satterlee needed to manufacture enough can holders to keep up with orders arriving from customers who had discovered the company through social media.

His solution involved adding more 3D printers at a rapid pace. Instead of buying one or two machines at a time, Satterlee began purchasing batches of around 30 printers as demand continued climbing.

Before long, the business had outgrown the family home. Printers filled the basement, while packaging and shipping operations began taking over the dining room. That setup could only last for so long. Satterlee eventually moved Cruise Cup into a nearby warehouse, giving the company enough space to operate more than 130 3D printers.

The warehouse marked a major change for a business built around a relatively simple idea. Cruise Cup had moved from home production into an operation capable of handling thousands of customer orders.

Years of E-Commerce Experience Helped Satterlee Scale

The News / Cruise Cup was not Satterlee’s first attempt at entrepreneurship. He had been experimenting with businesses since he was about ten years old.

This gave the teen entreprenuer him years of practical experience before his can holder became an internet hit.

His earlier projects included a sand-repellent product and Solefully, a company focused on clog accessories. He grew Solefully’s Instagram account beyond 100,000 followers, giving him valuable experience with online audiences.

Those earlier businesses helped Satterlee understand something many first-time founders learn after making expensive mistakes. Creating an interesting product matters, but knowing how to attract attention can matter just as much.

His experience with social media became especially valuable when Cruise Cup started growing. He already understood how content spreads, how followers react, and how a business can turn online engagement into customer interest. Satterlee also had another useful skill before launching the product. He learned about 3D printing during a high school design class, which gave him a practical way to turn an idea into something customers could actually buy.

3D printing also makes product testing much easier. Entrepreneurs can adjust a digital design, print another version, and test the changes without ordering thousands of units from a manufacturer. Cruise Cup took advantage of that flexibility during its early growth. As demand increased, Satterlee could add printers and expand production rather than immediately committing to a costly large-scale manufacturing process.

The company is now preparing for another stage of production. As of mid-2026, Satterlee was working with a manufacturer to create a mold for stainless steel versions of the Cruise Cup product.
